This summer, in a move to advance globalization of the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program’s body of knowledge, the CMP Board of Directors announced its approval of a revised CMP Blueprint, hereafter to be known as the CMP International Standards. The new standards define and categorize a comprehensive summary of the competencies, skills, and abilities a certificant must possess to be successful in the meeting and event planning profession, according to the Convention Industry Council (CIC), the industry body that administers the program and awards the CMP certification.
“Our standard practice is to update the blueprint every five years,” Karen Kotowski, CAE, CMP, chief executive officer of the CIC, stated in the announcement. “The last blueprint was revised in 2007, so this update is right on schedule.”
