When deciding where to host a meeting, you take into account the environment, the flexibility for activities, after-meeting entertainment and the convenience for meeting attendees. If all of that criteria is met, everything else is a perk.
Resort Amenities
Resorts offer organizations and corporations an atmosphere for productive conferences, networking and intellectual exchange - the ancillary amenities offer the attendees and family members an opportunity to rekindle. Regardless of the age of attendees, resorts offer serenity and make a meeting feel more relaxed, while still offering an avenue of professionalism.
Many resorts offer spacious conference space, Wi-Fi and audiovisual companies that provide meeting planners a stress-free planning and execution process.
In addition, resorts have exceptional sales and events managers who cater to any and every need of an incoming group. There are several components when planning a meeting so expert leadership is a must. Resort staff ensure that your event will be what you envision for not only the physical set-up, but for the budget and all other aspects as well. “Our flexibility, attention to detail and experienced hospitality professionals demonstrating aggressive hospitality during every encounter from pre-planning to check-in show individuals that we go the extra-mile,” said Svitak.
Resorts In Demand
While resorts continually market themselves as a destination worthy of your time, industry trends also are showing that corporations and organizations are anxious to engage once again in the overall resort-type experience as a reward for positive performances as well as providing a networking arena. Svitak commented, “We recently had a full-house group of 600 individuals kick-off their 2011 sales meeting with a very robust event including a leadership development exercise that had 45 groups of 12 individuals each participating in a four hour teambuilding challenge.”
The WELL Spa Fitness Team, headed by Connie Woodhouse, Director of Spa & Fitness, was thrilled to host the corporate teambuilding event. Attendees were lead through numerous team activity stations, referred to as initiatives. These various initiatives were designed to build on the values and behaviors of that company. The itinerary for the session included an energy building session, instruction of logistics, a facilitator introduction and movement to the various meeting spaces to begin initiatives. The team was observed and measured on the following values and behaviors – enthusiasm, unselfishness, respect for fellow teammates, empowerment and flexibility. The “take home value” was kept to built on the company’s values and behaviors. This was achieved by asking what connections they saw between “X” initiative and the company values and behaviors. They asked questions and avoided “teaching” or “telling” the participants the take home value and how those would impact their leadership back on the job.
Deals & Discounts
Deals and discounts continually are held at resorts, to appeal to an assortment of groups. March Madness specials, like held at the Grand Geneva Resort, offer deals such as low group rates, one complimentary room for every 40 rooms actualized and even suite upgrades. Many groups can benefit by asking about what deals are currently available when they inquire about information.
What’s Ahead
According to Svitak, while the resort is proud of what it offers, it continually is looking for ways to improve, “In the future, we hope to bring continued awareness through our marketing campaigns and constant upgrading of our facilities.” Those goals, as for any resort, are keys to keep repeat customers coming back and creating awareness nationally in the meeting planning community.
