Justin Baer, CheckInEasy Founder
Q: First, a little background: how did you become involved in providing mobile app technology for events?
A:
Our sister company, Charityhappenings.org, is the master calendar of nonprofit events happening around the country. We have so many great relationships with event planners around the country, and the topic of eliminating stapled Excel spreadsheets and ugly clipboards kept coming up. We set out to create a much more efficient way to run check-in, and built CheckInEasy.

Q: So, what is CheckInEasy?
A:
An extremely easy-to-use guest list and event check-in iPad/iPhone app that was recently used by Google at their holiday party to check in 2,600 guests at the New York Public Library. We just launched but have already gotten some exciting traction with users such as Tory Burch, Emory University, Ferrari and Masarati of Cannes, Elle Fashion Week, Nestle Water, AVT Technology, and more.

Q: What's cool about the app?
A:
Besides eliminating the hassle and inefficiency of paper guest lists, what sets us apart is our extremely easy interface and setup. A user can go from registration to checking in guests on their iPad in about 90 seconds. It's a clean and easy solution that suits most organizers who are looking to do iPad/iPhone check-in and do it well without the clutter of ticketing features and event pages that they don't need nor want to spend the time setting up.

Q: About setup time and unneeded options... in your opinion, how does "feature overload" influence technology adoption?
A:
Event planners don't have the time nor inclination to learn some whole new complicated system. They want a simple elegant tool to check in guests so they can eliminate the inefficiency of paper, and that's what we provide.

Q: What are some of the competitive features of CheckInEasy?
A:
First and foremost, our company and servers use tight security protocols that are the Fort Knox of guest list apps. Our clients, including Google, Tory Burch, and Experian Marketing Group, are super sensitive about their lists, and they trust CheckInEasy’s stable platform and servers. When we checked in 2,600 Google employees at their holiday party this past December, we had 11 iPads all signed in to the same event, and they scanned over 200 guests a minute - no downtime or app freezes.

Two, Our app is extremely simple and easy to use. Uploading a guest list and being ready for check-in takes less than 60 seconds. Three, our pricing model is about half of the closest competitor.

Finally, large events might choose to use our boarding pass feature, where you can upload your guest list and send attendees a “boarding pass” with a unique QR code that can be scanned at the door with our built-in scanner on an iPhone 4 or iPad 2.
