8:45 AM: In-house promotional marketing meeting to talk about what we need and the timelines for our upcoming trade shows.
10 AM: I, along with one of our sales managers meet with city officials to talk about hosting an event for a pyrotechnics group. Our first priority is finding a location where the group can light off fireworks until 1am.
12 PM: Lunch meeting with one of the sales managers and a prospective group on a site visit, we review their needs and discuss how Des Moines is the perfect fit for their conference.
1:30 PM Back to meet with city officials again, this time to talk about hosting an event called Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI), an annual seven-day bike ride across the state. The city of Des Moines, along with over 200 other Iowa communities submit bids to be part of the route and have the riders come through their community. With attendance of up to 30,000 riders we need to have a solid logistics plan in place in order to submit a strong bid.
3 PM: Off to my next meeting with the Greater Des Moines Sports Commission to discuss how we will get their upcoming events executed and what everyone needs to do between now and 2014. We also strategize on how we can continue to generate sales by bringing in more sporting groups to the area.
6 PM: Dinner with another group on a site visit who is considering our city for their next convention.
7:30 PM: Arrive home to spend quality time with the dogs and enjoy dinner with husband Jack . After dinner I go to my studio to work on a piece of jewelry or two. Since I’m usually at events /meetings throughout the week until 7:00 p.m. or later, an evening at home is a real treat! I always end my day with checking emails one last time and then I head to bed to get rested for tomorrow.
