Randy graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD in 1993. He began publishing
Wisconsin Meetings and Incentives
magazine in 1994. Due to overwhelming demand, in 1996, Randy converted the magazine to
Midwest Meetings
. In 2004, publishing began on the overwhelmingly successful annual
Midwest Meetings Guide Book
, and in 2006,
Midwest Meetings
magazine went quarterly.
With a growing publication and company, Randy set about finding new office space. In June 2007,
Midwest Meetings
moved to a new building, renovation of which was completed by Randy and Steve. If you haven't already done so, please update your records to show the new address: 302 6th St W, Brookings, SD 57006.
Today,
Midwest Meetings
is the most recognized publication of choice for meetings in the Midwest region. With a circulation of more than 30,000, constant tradeshow activity and membership in more than 20 organizations, Randy Hennen and
Midwest Meetings
have become synonymous with the meetings industry.
Outside of work, Randy is a proud father and a big fan of golfing and riding his motorcycle. His favorite things to do are spending quality time with his two children and working on the house he's just built out in the country.
Q&A with Randy...
Which super hero would you want to be, and why?
Does it have to be a "real" super hero? I want to be Apple Fritter Man. The guy they call in when there are just too many apple fritters laying around. Those are some tasty pastries!
If you could meet any single historical figure, who would you choose, and why?
John Wayne, but I think he was married, not single. Does it still count? Every man should meet and spend time with somebody like John Wayne. There'd be a lot less whining and complaining in the world.
If you were stranded alone on a desert island, what three items would you want to have with you, and why?
Knife, lighter and a herd of cattle. Gonna have steak until I'm rescued or my arteries get plugged.
