There will be 479 teams and 5,000 athletes competing, surpassing the previous record of 420 teams set in 2013.
Throughout the eight days of the tournament, there will be club title competition for ages 12 to 18 and open division play reserved for athletes ages 14 to 18.
The GCCC hosted the girls’ version of the tournament in 2012 and the 2000 USA Volleyball Open National Championships. The GCCC has also hosted numerous Ohio Valley Region (OVR) tournaments over the years.
OVR is one of USA Volleyball’s largest regional associations, representing Ohio, West Virginia and the bordering counties of western Pennsylvania.

“We are extremely proud to welcome this spectacular tournament to the facility for the first time,” said Greater Columbus Convention Center General Manager John R. Page. “Our two decades of successful history in hosting OVR and similar tournaments has led to our being the facility that has hosted the most volleyball tournaments in the nation, including the national championships for girls in 2012 and for boys this summer.”
