With the cold weather quickly approaching, we should be reminded that the warmth and comfort that we may take for granted is not a luxury that others in our community have. We encourage you to help us make a difference in the lives of others by supporting the Jacksonville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and Hampton Inn’s 3rd Annual Blanket Drive!
General Manager Michelle Foreman of the Hampton Inn by Hilton mentions why it is important to support this cause. “Making a difference is something our hotel strives to do every day. We strive to do this within the property, but our community outreach is also very important to us. We support our community and helping others, especially those in need. Helping those exposed to the cold find a better degree of comfort with a warm blanket or two is a big reason we our continuing this drive for our 4th year. We are thankful for the support we have been given thus far.”
The Blanket Drive is designed to bring awareness that there are many individuals in the community who are in need of these resources. According to city-data.com, almost twenty-two percent of the Jacksonville area has an income below poverty. We want to help those in our community by setting a goal to serve at least 300 potential people in need.
The Share the Warmth Blanket Drive will continue through the end of November. To those wishing to take part in the drive, we ask you to please donate new or handmade blankets and/or cash donations that will be used to purchase new blankets. All donations are greatly appreciated and will be shared between the Salvation Army, New Directions Warming and Cooling Shelter, and Women’s Crisis Center.
Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:
The Hampton Inn: 24/7 drop off location
The Jacksonville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
