In Kim Kislowski's 27 years with the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau, the mission has never changed.
The catchphrase, however …
"The ultimate goal of the CVB is to get people for hotel stays," she said. "Heads in beds — that's what we always used to say."
Lately, at the suggestion of a coworker, it's been "feet in the sheets," or "feet on the street."
To entice those heads, feet and cash, the bureau began years ago to put together itineraries for folks passing through the area — either for a lunch stop or an overnight stay on the way to someplace else.
"But we know we have a lot of gems. There are a lot of things to see and do. These little gems make up the experience that is the Southland."
