Midwest Meeting and Travel Industry Pros to Debate Disruptive Technology Trends at Industry Xchange Chicago

University Event Planners (UEP) to Hold Annual Education Conference & Vendor Showcase, “What a Difference a Day Makes”

University Event Planners will hold its annual education conference and vendor showcase on Friday, June 12, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Meeting/event planners and industry suppliers from around the state are invited to attend.
Attendees will benefit from the following educational and networking opportunities:
UEP’s president, Lynne Shivers of PEACEful Events Planning Services says, “I am very excited because this is the inaugural conference of the new UEP. Our goal is to create an exceptional conference experience for event planners and the suppliers who provide services to them.” Shivers adds, “As professionals we need to continually seek opportunities to sharpen our skills. ALIS Summer Update to Focus on Industry Segments & Advocacy Issues Facing the Hospitality Industry

In an exciting new format, the annual Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) Summer Update taking place July 21-23 will hold three networking receptions in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Los Angeles. Each reception will focus on timely topics within the industry. ALIS Summer Update provides another opportunity in 2015 to network with the hotel investment community across America.
The first reception in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, July 21, focuses on an Update from Washington D.C. with panelists Jim R. Abrahamson, CEO, Interstate Hotels & Resorts; Ed Walter, president & CEO, Host Hotels & Resorts; and Paul W. Whetsell, Vice Chairman, Loews Hotels & Resorts; moderated by Katherine Lugar, president & CEO, American Hotel & Lodging Association. Berman, US Industry Leader Hospitality & Leisure, PwC. The final reception in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 23, will feature a discussion on the Luxury Segment with panelists Jason Herthel, president & COO, Montage Hotels & Resorts; Jim Petrus, senior vice president, St. Regis Brand; and C. The Wisconsin Chapter of Meeting Professionals International is hitting the links for two days of education, networking, and fun for its annual Summer Getaway and Golf Outing, this year hosted by Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
The event kicks off on Wednesday, June 10th, with a great presentation “The Law of Doing Good Things” by Tyra Hilliard, one of the very few people in the world to have a law degree, a PhD in Hospitality, and a CMP! During this presentation participants will consider scenarios that highlight the liability issues associated with integrating social responsibility into the meetings industry.
Golfers tee off after the morning education at the Cold Water Canyon Golf course, one of Wisconsin’s most historic golf courses.
Don’t Golf? Don’t Worry! After the morning education non-golfers will spend the 11th enjoying a tour of the Dells on the famous Ducks and enjoy lunch at the beautiful Coldwater Canyon Pavilion. Greater Lansing CVB to Host Two Hospitality Events in Recognition of National Tourism Week

The Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau (GLCVB), through its Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) program, will host two hospitality events as part of National Tourism Week, May 2-10, 2015.
The first event is a CTA mixer at the newly renovated Cooley Law School Stadium on May 3rd. Along with networking, CTA’s in attendance will be made aware of all the changes to the ballpark so they are equipped to share this info with the numerous visitors they encounter. The second event is a tourism impact awareness day for area taxi service organizations on May 7th. Taxi/transportation providers are encouraged to stop by the Greater Lansing Visitor Center at 500 E. Michigan Ave., Suite 180, Lansing from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. for refreshments and information regarding the CTA program, the value of tourism in Greater Lansing as well as visitor information resources.
Greater Lansing’s wildly successful CTA program seeks to educate and inspire front-line hospitality employees to be better equipped to provide a memorable visitor experience in Greater Lansing.
“Our downtown ball park and area taxi service are two major visitor first-impression touch-points for our community,” said Julie Pingston, CTA, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the GLCVB. “National Tourism Week seemed like a fitting time to hold events at two strong visitor hubs and help refuel the enthusiasm of our nearly 500 Greater Lansing Certified Tourism Ambassadors.”

IRF Announces Trump National Doral to Host 22nd Annual Incentive Invitational, May 27-31, 2015
The Incentive Research Foundation announced that its 22nd annual Incentive Invitational will be held May 27-31, 2015 at the Trump National Doral in Miami, Fla., with the support of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Authority and other area hosts.
The Incentive Invitational is the IRF’s most important annual fundraising activity for research surrounding motivation and incentives. More than 400 buyers, suppliers, and hotels will share four days of networking, education and destination showcase experiences, fostering new relationships and solidifying existing business contacts.
One of the key components of the Incentive Invitational is a slate of education sessions that highlight recent IRF research and provide actionable, usable data on incentives and motivation. Attendees also have the opportunity to relate the research to their own experiences and practices through roundtable discussions.
The 2014 IRF Invitational, held at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos in Mexico, set the all-time attendance record to date for the event with more than 400 total participants in attendance, including nearly 200 top buyers and decision makers from incentive companies and end-buyer corporations.
