Shoreline Sightseeing Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Ultimate “Throwback Thursday”
Discounted Lake Tours, Perks for 75-Year-Olds & Free Party-on-the-Dock, All Part of Shoreline’s July 31 “Thank You” to Chicago
In celebration of 75 years on Chicago’s waterways, Shoreline Sightseeing is extending an invitation to Chicagoans, and Chicagoans-at-heart, to join in the ultimate “Throwback Thursday.”
On Thursday, July 31, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Shoreline will throw back ticket prices for their popular Classic Lake Tours originating from Navy Pier to $7.50 (a $10 savings over current-day adult pricing). Additionally, all 75-year-olds and military personnel are invited to ride free on any Shoreline tour, including the Classic Lake and guided Architecture River Tours, or water taxis, throughout the day. And from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., anyone in the vicinity of Shoreline’s Michigan Avenue Bridge dock is welcome to join in a 1939-style anniversary party, complete with complimentary Cracker Jacks, old-fashioned lemonade and live Swing music.
Established in 1939, Shoreline has carried generations of Chicagoans as well as passengers from just about every country in the world. With stunning views and vivid detail of Chicago’s historic skyline, Shoreline introduces passengers to Chicago in unforgettable fashion.
“As a company, we have really evolved alongside the city of Chicago the last 75 years, it has been a very special partnership,” said Chip Collopy, family member and president of Shoreline Sightseeing. “We look forward to celebrating our 75th anniversary with the people and community that made us what we are today.”
Along with its Classic Lake and Architecture River Tours, Shoreline offers evening Fireworks Tours and special events throughout the season. Wine tasting cruises are scheduled for July 24, August 21 and September 11, and Brew Cruises, featuring a wide-array of micro brews partnered with tasty appetizers, will run on July 11 and August 8. Shoreline will round out the boat tour season with their “Beers, Brats and Boats” Oktoberfest celebration on September 26, highlighting traditional German dishes and beers.

AIBTM Announces ‘Meetings Mean Business Coalition’ Update At Annual Show
The Americas Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition (AIBTM) has finalized a key session at its annual show where the “Meetings Mean Business Coalition”—a group of senior officials from the meetings, events and travel industry—will participate in a panel discussion highlighting industry trends and initiatives to educate the public and private sector on the economic and social benefits of meetings, conferences, incentive travel and trade shows. The high level panel will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11 in the Chapin Theater at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) and is open to all attendees of AIBTM 2014.
“The Meetings Mean Business Coalition” was launched in 2009 by top meetings and events executives in the U.S. to raise awareness to the value of in-person meetings and trade shows that create personal connections, drive positive business outcomes, and create jobs and generate revenue locally.
“The Meetings Mean Business Coalition has been instrumental in proving that business is still done best when people come together face-to-face,” said Michael Lyons, Exhibition Director of AIBTM. “Since its formation, the coalition has served as a significant source of insights on the meetings industry.”
