The expansion adds 34,000 square feet. Now, with 78,000 square feet of exhibit halls, meeting rooms and smaller group spaces, the KI is the largest meeting facility in Northeastern Wisconsin. The main thrust of the expansion was construction of the 25,000-square-foot George Kress Grand Ballroom, but it also includes 19 breakout rooms seating 15 to 1,800 people. The largest meeting room accommodates 3,640 people. The KI also features 35,264 square feet of exhibit space.
All of the new space is elevated at a second story level overlooking the downtown entertainment district. The convention space is between two hotels, the Hyatt on Main and the Hampton Inn & Suites, offering 376 attached guest rooms. The KI Convention Center is managed and operated by the Hyatt on Main.
State-of-the-art video wayfinding signage and satellite up-linking were also added to the facility.
