• Swim-up bars are a hit
• Keep safety front of mind
The answer is a resounding yes! The thrill of the rides at any of the waterpark resorts you’ll find in the Midwest are perfect for the kid at heart. But wait, there’s more. Many waterpark resorts are catering to the adult crowd like never before.
Wilderness Resort, America’s largest waterpark resort, located in Wisconsin Dells, added Margarita’s Swim-Up Bar in 2014.
“Our ultimate goal was to build an area in one of our waterparks where adults could escape and relax in an adult’s-only area,” said Joe Eck, Wilderness Resort General Manager. “However, we wanted to do this without taking anything away from our existing hot tubs and pools. So we thought if we were going to build something new why not make the most unique, adults-only swim-up bar in Wisconsin, complete with bar stools, conversation coves, LED lighting, six flat screen TVs, and indoor/outdoor access. Its popularity has far exceeded our expectations.”
Half the bar is located in the pool, allowing guests to swim up and order their drinks. The other half of the bar is outside the pool, perfect for those guests looking to stay dry. Margarita’s Swim-Up Bar serves up tropical drinks, specialty mixers, and of course, margaritas.
Wilderness Resort isn’t the only one serving up drinks poolside. Kalahari Resort is home to Wisconsin’s first swim-up bar, the Mud Hut. In this oasis, you’ll discover a full bar along with specialty on-the-rocks and frozen drinks. The Mud Hut also includes indoor/outdoor access and is a great place to catch a big game as it’s surrounded by TVs.
Any time you’re consuming alcoholic beverages around water, saftey is an important factor. Wilderness Resort encourages their patrons to drink responsibly and if you’re planning a meeting at a waterpark resort that has a swim-up bar you should do the same. Much the same as a regular bar, if a guest appears to have consumed too much, they will most likely be served water and possibly even asked to take some time off from the pool. Or they could be advised to return to their room to relax for a while.
Any time of year, waterpark resorts offer the perfect backdrop for a successful meeting, whether attendees bring their kids or not.
