• Better box lunches
Lunch, dinner, whatever your word choice is for the noon-time meal, we asked and found three different creative box lunches that can take your meeting on-the-go. We know there are plenty more out there, but here are a few of our favorites that fall into the categories of on-the-go, vegetarian style, and buffet style.
Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center has put together two great ideas - eating and exercise. They wanted to come up with a creative way to offer meeting attendees a chance to get out of the office and into the woods for lunch. So “Take a Hike and a Lunch!” was born. The lunchbox is actually a drawstring backpack which can be re-used. Best of all, the guided hike treks to amazing canyons, seasonal waterfalls, and awesome bluff views of the scenic Illinois River Valley above Starved Rock. Their guides talk about the unique cultural history, geology, and natural wonder of the park along the way making for a wonderful teambuilding activity.
Operated by the Bartolotta Restaurants, Downtown Kitchen is the go-to gathering place for meetings located in downtown Milwaukee which caters three different box lunches. Each box gives you the opportunity to please your vegetarian side. The Simple Box Lunch offers a veggie sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and cheese and includes chips, whole fruit, and a cookie. In need of a little more, try the Executive Box Lunch. It contains a yummy Roasted Veggie Sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and cheese. With this box, you also receive Miss Vickie’s Chips, fresh fruit, side salad (pasta, potato, or house), and a cookie. A third option, if you’re looking for a light, satisfying salad would be the Salad Box Lunch; a Traditional Cobb Salad, Mediterranean Salad, Chicken Caesar Salad, or Tomato Mozzarella Salad. After you decide on which delectable salad to eat for lunch, each will be served with a ciabatta roll and butter, and don’t forget about the cookie.
A meatier side of box lunches is also offered.
Meet at the Lake. Lake Cafe at Arrowwood Resort & Conference Center creates a box lunch buffet for attendees in Minnesota. The lunch buffet contains two to three different sandwiches, bags of chips, pasta salads, fresh fruits, candy bars or cookies, and sodas or bottled waters.
