When The Hotel at Oberlin opened last September it significantly raised the bar for environmentally sustainable hotels. It was not only one of the first hotels in the US to qualify for the rigorous LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council but also the first hotel in the US to incorporate solar and geothermal power, as well as use radiant heating and cooling.
Now the 70-room property owned by Oberlin College and managed by The Olympia Companies has become a vital part of the Oberlin community. It both welcomes and educates guests about the vanguard of green living, hosting environmental conferences such as “After Fossil Fuels” as well as innovative meetings. The hotel has also become one of the most important wedding venues in all of Lorain County.
