There is so much to do. It is a very hip city. We love it.
Walkability - the new convention space is centrally located on the beautiful Des Moines river, with a new river walk connecting users to restaurants, shopping, entertainment district and ball park. The Riverwalk connects to 300 miles of trails (Bike rentals available throughout downtown) allowing runners easy access to nearby lakes and parks. Four miles of climate controlled skywalks make getting around downtown convenient when weather forces us indoors.

I've traveled to larger cities that do not offer what Des Moines does. It's a big plus feeling safe downtown as well. I chose to stay in Des Moines after college to build a career as well as a family.

It offers something for everyone - fabulous theater in a number of venues, connecting trails throughout the area, wonderful local restaurants, popular name recognition stores, and sports galore for participants as well as spectators. Location is excellent, two major Interstates pass through, I35 and I80. Large number of restaurants, many cultures represented. Accommodations are reasonably priced. Within the city you can travel anywhere in 20 minutes. Downtown environment is excellent. Small airport and seldom long lines. Facilities and staff always friendly and welcoming!
Variety of meeting locations, dining options, scenery/atmosphere, ease of access to highways, travel/commute time is minimal, traffic is minimal, hotels are plentiful at all levels, plenty to see and do for entertainment.
It is in the center of the country, therefore easy for everyone to get to. It is more reasonably priced than most capital cities. It is a walkable city but it also is easy to get around in. There are lots of cultural and sports events to attend and lots of public art.
There is a lot to do and the re-vitalization of Downtown Des Moines and East Village is truly amazing!

Great nightlife and places to eat, huge young professional presence, vibrant and rapidly growing downtown, no traffic anywhere and suburbs are close, great schools, many large corporations investing in the town, music festivals, bike trails and amazingly nice people everywhere
There are great restaurants and events. The bike trails are a good source of connecting the whole city. There are lots of people and businesses within the city who are willing to step up the plate and take responsibility for growth. Plus there is a cool winery in the middle of the city!

Des Moines, IA is full of very friendly people with a nice diversity mix of the population in the metro. Nice venues to hold meetings and other events at in the core of the metro and also on the fringe areas. Traffic on the streets, freeways/expressways, and interstates make it very enjoyable to drive and less time in a taxi. Des Moines is also nice located within a few hours drive and very easy commuting from other cities like the Twin Cities, MN, Kansas City MO/KS, Omaha NE, and a tad farther, but easy commute to Chicago and St. Louis.
You get the big city feel and the Midwest hospitality all in one.

It is inexpensive, easy to navigate and has a TON of shopping and nightlife for guests to enjoy after their event. Des Moines is also very conveniently located at the crossroads of interstates 80 and 35, and has an international airport. One of the best places to live and work, with a rich history of art and culture that is so much easier to access than many larger cities!
