Here's What You Had to Say...
Lots to do and very friendly people.
Easy to get around and wonderful SD sites such as Mount Rushmore, Keystone, Black Hills, Custer State Park, Harney Peak, etc.
The setting is gorgeous with the Black Hills around it. The people are very friendly, and the size of the city is perfect for little traffic yet many amenities.
Great outdoor activities, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, most friendly people, and they make you feel like they really welcome you.
Not only beautiful and unique mountains but a long list of attractions not found in other Cities/States.
As a business owner in downtown Rapid City I have heard first hand from many customers and visitors proclaiming what an amazing city Rapid City is. Sometimes the best recognition is from conversations overheard. One day I was walking down Main Street and I passed four middle aged adults who were talking about changing their travel plans so they could stay in Rapid City a few days longer. They talked about all that there is to do and see in Rapid City! I must agree, as a resident I truly love having family and friends visit as we always have something to do!
They have great cultural arenas sharing Native American history along with great monuments; Crazy Horse & Mount Rushmore along with a great team at the CVB who assist in planning meetings & special events.
Proximity to the Black Hills which has many places to see and things to do make Rapid City a great place to host a meeting. Many convention centers are available and motels are plentiful ranging in all price ranges. Rapid City people are friendly and helpful to visitors and love to show our area off!!!
Large meeting rooms, great motels and food and wonderful sightseeing.
People are very friendly and helpful. Area is very beautiful with many attractions. Overall cost is reasonable compared to bigger cities
After a long day in meetings there are a variety of attractions and things to see and do within minutes of Rapid City. Such as Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, etc.
A great 'meetings with a vacation' destination. The best place to extend your business trip with your family vacation.
The sky's the limit as far as things to do!! Great People, Great Hotels, and a CVB that goes that extra mile!!
Large number of Lodging rooms available, great meeting facilities and the area attractions cannot be beat. Mt Rushmore says is all. The CVB staff is awesome to work with. They know how to help a group when planning meetings and functions. You will be happy you chose Rapid City, SD.
It has a great convention centers, restaurants, shopping, and lodging accommodations that can host a variety of functions. Visitors can experience the sights and beauty of the Black Hills and Mt. Rushmore, as well as a variety of tourist destinations such as the Badlands, Wind Cave, the 1880 Train and Deadwood, just to name a few.
Location, Location, Location!
Rapid City provides a variety of things to see and do. Who else has a National Monument like Mt. Rushmore.
Accommodations, it's beauty, things to see and do, and it's great people.
I have planned a number of conventions/conferences in Rapid City and I found the CVB, hotel representatives and bus company employees to be very friendly, positive and helpful in putting together a fun, exciting and informative meeting. Not only are the professionals helpful and friendly, but I have found that the citizens of the community are extremely friendly and helpful, whether it is providing directions, assisting with the coordinating of activities or providing physical assistance. I have found Rapid City to be a great place to get things done and have a good time.
The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center is one of the best in the country. Staff is very professional and well-trained. Plus, there are many, many things to do in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota.
Friendly, relaxed, lots to do, CVB very helpful.
Great location with amazing sights to see. For example Mt. Rushmore, Black Hills, Crazy Horse, etc. Rapid City is the center for these attractions. This area captures the true essence of the American Western Heritage.
It is located in a beautiful area, the Black Hills of South Dakota. There are many museums in the area. The active tourism industry provides many activities for visitors. Lots of high quality restaurants. Adequate shopping.
Lots of venues for meetings with the bonus of beautiful scenery.
The atmosphere in the Black Hills is awesome. The businesses appreciate the people coming in for meetings and treat you so well. The facilities in Rapid City are more than adequate to handle most meetings. We have an educational meeting with 1200 attendees and everything is handled very professionally by all.
Rapid City has everything. Dining, hotels big enough to handle large crowds, recreation, sightseeing and a convention bureau that is easy to work with.
We had a wonderful time in 2012 with the NSA DaNang reunion and are going back in 2014 with the USS Skagit and the ASR ARS Association reunions.
There are excellent venues for meetings and nearby tourist sites. When you meet in Downtown Rapid City, there is one-of-a-kind shopping, a great gathering place at Main Street Square, and events almost every week.
Rapid City is close to all of the national parks in the Black Hills. There are many good restaurants and hotels to choose from. Many things are going on at Main Street Square. A great place to visit.
Rapid City is easy to get to via airplane. There are all of the modern conveniences needed, plus a plethora of historic sightseeing venues. The hotel and meeting venues are all very accommodating.
Rapid City is truly an all encompassing city that boasts Midwest charm and hospitality. The city is abundant with entertainment opportunities. The Downtown district is booming and a variety of unique dining opportunities and specialty shops can be found within walking distance. Rapid City is home to endless entertainment possibilities including events at Main Street Square, the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, The Dahl Arts Museum and the Performing Arts Center to name a few. Rapid City is home to many great meeting venues from the Historic Alex Johnson Hotel to the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, in addition to many others. Not to mention, the city is minutes from wonderful hiking trails, gorgeous scenery and endless options for sight seeing!
There is something for everyone in the area to do or see. The hotel we stayed at for our meeting was great with a very accommodating staff. All of our 30 participants said they had a great time. And want to return to the area some day for another meeting.
Great accommodations and gateway to the beautiful Black Hills. One must get out of Rapid to enjoy the true beauty of the Black Hills. Rapid City has the eating establishments and motels to host whatever.
It is neat, clean, fun-filled. It is also close to many neat sites, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Deadwood. The people are friendly. The lodgings and restaurants are some of the best. You can't beat the location. We hold our meeting there and everyone is always pleased.
Lot's of variety. Easy to schedule large events. Unique setting. Many attractions for families who attend alongside meeting attendees.
Decidedly the best city for meetings, because everyone is willing to work diligently with you from the planners and organizers to the individuals who do the clean-up. Rapid City is a positive and hard working community that loves to host groups from out of town. With so much to see and do in the entire Black Hills region, coming for a meeting can turn into a respite getaway or a family vacation. There's much, much more to a meeting than sitting in a convention room all day. We have what every group needs.
Business friendly, beautiful scenery, great people, great meeting and convention facilities, excellent hotels, great food, etc., etc., etc.
Great hotels, low prices, free parking. New airport with several airlines and multiple flights. Lots of affordable restaurants. Obvious proximity to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Badlands and the Black Hills. Usually gorgeous weather. I am a meeting planner and have been very impressed working with the Rapid City CVB and various hotels where I have done business.
Rapid City a great year around destination. Lodging, dining, shopping, and attractions are readily available and the Black Hills are within a few miles with opportunities to explore the beauty of nature and numerous communities with additional offerings that center around their local history.
Friendly, helpful people who make you feel welcomed when you check into your hotel, when eating out, shopping, or just asking directions. Also, room rates/food/beverage is a lot less than larger towns. There are a great deal of activities for a wide range of folks - summer, fall, winter, spring - indoor/outdoor, and many are free or very low cost.
CVB is very friendly and helpful. Hotel personnel are also very friendly and helpful. You can be alone to concentrate on business in a quiet, relaxed setting. When work is over, there are plenty of grand sightseeing opportunities.
It's a regional hub for five states (ND, SD, WY, NB, MT. I know of at least six presidents who have visited here, four within the last 30 years while in office...Ford, Reagan, Clinton, Bush. If it's good and important enough for them it's good for anyone. Tourist country!
Rapid City has a friendly culture, the people of Rapid City are friendly and love people, they love to share their beautiful city and surroundings in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Come to Rapid City, relax, enjoy, endure the peace and tranquility of the beauty...we love people!
The Black Hills offers a variety of places for meetings, and a bigger variety of activities and places to see and things to do. It’s large enough to accommodate large gatherings, yet not too large to be intimidating. From wine tasting to sporting events, we have it all!
Great things to do in the area--including Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, etc. The Chamber is so accommodating and even has volunteers help with registration at the event.
The city offers a very welcoming atmosphere to visitors along with great resources for meetings. What a beautiful backdrop for doing business!
Black Hills, relaxing environment, did I mention the Black Hills?
Plenty of Hotels and meeting facilities. Lots to see and do outside of the meetings, Regional airport serviced by four airlines with several direct flights per day from Denver, Chicago, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, and Dallas. Easy driving access via I-90.
It is an undiscovered jewel for many people. It is NOT hard to get here. The Native Americans do NOT ride their ponies through the city. Mount Rushmore and five other wonderful natural sights are within a day's travel. The downtown area has really cool statues of U. S. Presidents on every street corner. There's even a piece of the Berlin wall in a park near downtown. Truly an unforgettable place to visit.
Rapid City, SD is a very friendly city. They have a wonderful small town feel, yet have all the conveniences to hold a great meeting. They also have a lot of wonderful activities in the surrounding area!
Recently held a Navy reunion here. EVERYONE from the Chamber of Commerce staff to the hotel maid was friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make our time there the best it could be!!!
Mount Rushmore! It is a great place to go with your family young and old. I would rather go to Rapid City then Disney World.
1. Great airport and right on I-90 - easy to get to. Easy to drive around the area. 2. Huge number of hotels and meeting rooms. Moderate prices (except during Sturgis motorcycle rally) 3. Typically good weather, blue and clean skies.....lots of sunshine. 4. Friendly clerks and people 5. Nestled in the BEAUTIFUL Black Hills with dozens of interesting stores, places to see and true enjoyment of nature and unique environment. 6. A sophisticated small city with charm.
They have always done every thing in their power to accommodate our group in all dealings, and with a smile.
Our ship, the USS Black DD666, just held its annual reunion in Rapid City and it was a huge success. There is so much to do and see around Rapid City. Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse monument. The 1880s train ride from Hill City to Keystone was a lot of fun, and the Fort Hayes chuck wagon dinner show is fantastic. We on the USS Black reunion committee would defiantly recommend Rapid City as a meeting destination.
The city itself--dubbed the City of Presidents--is picturesque, featuring public art and a vibrant downtown. Venue size from the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center for large groups to any number of small choices allows planners to choose the perfect fit for their event. Beyond those attributes, it is the people who live here and those who serve in the tourism industry that will wow your socks off. I have never known a more helpful group in the pre-planning, planning and executing phase than the staff of the Rapid City Tourism Bureau. Front line employees as well as area residents are naturally friendly and helpful. Meeting attendees will notice an incomparable hospitality ethic throughout the Black Hills. I chaired a national convention in Rapid City in 2005 and when I contacted Lisa Storms at the tourism bureau in Rapid City in 2013 regarding another possible convention, she remembered we had worked together before. Rapid City is big enough to serve yet small enough to care. How many places have you conventioned where you could say that?
Rapid City understands the bottom line; the majority of hotels do not have an attrition clause in their contracts, most hotels offer free shuttle service to and from the airport as well as around the city. (I recently attended a conference where the hotel did not offer a shuttle--free or paid--and the ten mile airport taxi ride was $45.00, each way.) All Rapid City hotels have free parking. Every Rapid City hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi service in the meeting spaces as well as in the rooms.
Rapid City is close to Mt. Rushmore and in the Black Hills, giving easy access to additional sight seeing and recreation. Frequent conventioneers as well as infrequent travelers will feel wrapped in hospitality when they come to Rapid City.
Great weather! Close to so many wonderful things to see and do in the Black Hills! People are friendly!
There are so many things to do and see around Rapid City. It will take a couple of weeks to do it all.
Rapid City has a multitude of activities in the downtown area and it is accessible to Mt. Rushmore (Shrine of Democracy), Crazy Horse Memorial and some of the most interesting drives in the Black Hills. Whatever the focus or interest, Rapid City can provide an opportunity of interest.
Rapid City is the best to host a meeting because it has great hotels and civic center for meeting space. The city has wonderful attractions, restaurants, things to do, and has a great downtown, where Main Street Square and the Presidential Sculptures create a "Sense of Place." And if that isn't enough it is the located in the beautiful Black Hills and is in the shadow of the Shrine of Democracy, Mount Rushmore.
The RCCVB and the Chamber were very helpful and supportive and accommodating when we were planning our South Dakota Auctioneers Convention. They helped us plan three years in advance of the convention. Great shopping! Places to visit! The Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn was a wonderful host for our convention. Big Thank You!....5 star…
Excellent hotels and restaurants for large and small conventions and meetings. Downtown is vibrant. Rapid City is scenic, sassy, progressive.
Rapid City has so much to offer meeting attendees throughout the entire year. As a business owner, I hear from visitors on a daily basis how much they enjoy Rapid City and what we have to offer - comfortable and affordable lodging, a vibrant downtown (fountains, skating rink, dining, shopping, entertainment), super friendly locals, Native American and pioneer culture, performing and visual arts, and of course the attractions we are most famous for - Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and the beautiful Black Hills.
We host numerous groups and receptions and what I also hear consistently from meeting planners is how helpful and delightful they find our CVB staff.
The phrase I hear most often - 'Who knew Rapid City had all this!'
Lots to do in area; Black Hills tours, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse monument, Deadwood, battle sites, Buffalo, and a lot of very nice people!
Variety of things to do, Mount Rushmore, people you work with willing to assist to make your meeting a success.
Friendly & comfortable Midwestern attitudes make Rapid City a great place to be. Big enough to have what you need yet small enough to be easily navigable. Affordable lodging and a great variety & price range of eating choices. Our airport is small and affordable to get you in & out without hassles. Please come see us - we'll make sure you have a good time!!
There are many options for meeting and sleeping accommodations and an endless list of things to see and do from visiting the National Monument Mount Rushmore, to shooting Zombies at Rushmore Cave, and watching the buffalo graze in Custer State Park. While these things may require driving, buses can be arranged to transport groups. In Rapid City itself there is every level of dining and lots of great shopping of every sort!
Great sites, great area, great people.
Small town feel, friendly people, unique setting in Black Hills of South Dakota.
Things to do...places to go…..
A wonderful convention center with smaller centers available as well. An easy-to-use airport with great connections to Denver, Minneapolis and beyond. Lots of lodging and great food. An interesting and attractive city center with boutiques, galleries and eateries. A history of hospitality. Seven national park properties for sight-seeing and education, plus dozens more attractions. A lovely area with lovely hospitable people.
Rapid City has many great meeting facilities to accommodate all different sizes of groups, along with a wonderful variety of activities and beautiful locations to visit during your stay.
Excellent convention facilities, excellent opportunities for visitors to check out amazing sites in the area, very family friendly.
Rapid City has Small Town Charm with Big City Attractions. Stay at a Historic or Modern Hotel downtown and enjoy the shopping and events at Main Street Square, where there's a a different band every Thursday night during Summer Nights. Bring your hiking shoes or rent a bike and hit the trails in the 2 wilderness areas or the 8 mile Greenway trail, both just minutes from downtown. Visit Dinosaur Park and feel like a kid again....oh and don't forget to go to your meeting.
Good honest people live there. It's a beautiful place to visit. One of the best places I have ever been.
Great facilities for your meetings and lots of opportunities for your spare time.
Great facilities (in particular the Civic Center) and great activities for the attendees. And the weather is *usually* good!
Enjoy the western style of life, great outdoors and historic scenery!
They have the best CVB.
Great facilities (the Civic Center in particular), great people, and great attractions nearby.
Beautiful sites and wonderful People!!!
So much to see and do. History, Nature, outside activities and even Minute Man Missile sites!
Because it has a big variety of places where you can host large conferences, with many motels/hotels for people to stay. Businesses and organizations in Rapid City work with you when you host a conference.
Beautiful location, great food, very friendly people and wonderful weather.
It is surrounded by mountains, it has a great history of this country. The native american history is also captured with a Museum and crazy horse. They have a hotel, convention center and visitors Bureau that can accommodate your meeting and sleeping arrangement.
The Black Hills and all the variety of activities that are available.
Rapid City is a beautiful untapped fountain of knowledge ready to show the world that just because we are small doesn't mean we are powerless...
Plenty of meeting space, lots to see and do after hours, professional and friendly staff, convention services and staff very knowledgeable, and will do all that is necessary to accommodate your meeting needs.
