• Creating a Snapchat geofilter
For many, Snapchat® is a viable marketing tool and for others it is a fun way to share moments with friends, family, and even clients. For your next meeting or event, consider creating an on-demand geofilter to add a little fun to your attendees’ camera roll and Snapchat messages.
Snapchat geofilters are image overlays which can only be accessed in certain locations. They are similar to a digital sticker, a pretty graphic, easily added to the users image through the app.
We all know social media presentation engages attendees, these geofilter images shared by current attendees will create buzz with others in attendance and with potential new attendees for the next event. And if you feel really fancy, create multiple geofilters for different areas of your event, or for a featured keynote presentation using a memorable tag line.
Go to www.snapchat.com/geofilters and hit the “create geofilter’ button on the bottom right of the page. At this point you may choose the type of organization this filter is for; community (school, landmark, city), personal (holiday, birthday, retirement parties), or business (brand, events, store).
Now you can begin to build your geofilter. Snapchat offers a few online designs you can use and adapt or you can upload your own design from a .png file. Text can be added, with multiple colors and fonts to choose from. Once you are satisfied with your design, hit “next” in the lower right.
Hit ‘Draw Fence’ and begin to enclose your selected area for your geofilter to be accessible to users. As you create your border or fence, you are able to see the total square feet and projected price in the upper left corner. Your dates and times selected are displayed in the upper right corner. When you have created your ideal border and double checked your dates, times, and price point hit “next” in the lower right.
Give your email address, name your campaign, and make payment via credit card. Check the box for agreeing to the fine print, then hit submit. Voila! Your geofilter is set to run for your specific timeframe. Make sure to let your attendees know a geofilter will be available in your promotional materials, as well as any hashtags you are using for your event.
Now sit back and let the good times snap!
