• Giving back through a good night's sleep in Wisconsin
• A state of mind, a state of being, a way of life
The world goes pink in the month of October in honor of breast cancer awareness. Many work to help organizations giving to the cause in memory and honor of someone touched by the disease in their lives.
At InterContinental Milwaukee, thinking pink is a year-round endeavor as guests help to fight cancer in their sleep.
With each night’s stay, $25 goes to ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, who’s main service is one-to-one peer mentoring - providing free, personalized one-to-one support to breast cancer patients, their families, and friends. In October of 2016, InterContinental Milwaukee announced a donation of more than $13,000 to ABCD. This latest donation brings the total contribution to ABCD in at just over $86,000 since The Pink Room inception, seven years ago. More than 3,440 guests from 42 states and 12 different countries have stayed in these special guestrooms.
Due to the success of Milwaukee’s Pink Rooms, Marcus Hotels & Resorts, the owner and manager of InterContinental Milwaukee hotel formed a similar program at the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace in Madison. The Carbone Ribbon Room, launched in 2014, generates awareness for cancer by supporting the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC). The Hilton Madison reconfigured and redesigned one of the hotel’s premium, lakeview rooms to offer a bright and inspirational environment for guests. The Carbone Ribbon Room also features a journal to share personal stories, a compilation of sentimental narratives, and many unique elements. Each night the room is reserved, the Hilton Madison donates $25 to UWCCC. Since the program’s formation, $14,000 has been donated to support cancer research.
When booking your next hotel stay, you can feel good about giving back even when you are sleeping and that will help you rest easy.
