• Youth sports fundraising ideas
Parents, family, and friends can only handle purchasing (and eating) so many chocolate bars, popcorn, or other edible goods when it comes to fundraising efforts of any youth sports team. If you feel like it is time to put more FUN in your fundraising, try one of these great ideas:
Team Night Out. Is there a local restaurant in town that would partner with your team for a sports night? A set percentage of the profits from that night will go back to your team. The local restaurant benefits from the patrons who want to support your team while it is an easy opportunity for the team to gain funds. You could even have team players bus tables for extra tips and to mingle with their fans.
Picture Perfect. Arrange for a professional photographer to take portraits for a day or evening. Allow families and individuals to book time slots and choose a photo package, with a certain percentage going directly to the team. Another idea is to have a professional photographer play the role of ‘roving paparazzi’ at your sporting event. As the photographer takes candid photos of spectators, they pass out their card for individuals to go to their website and, potentially, purchase image downloads. Again, a percentage of the proceeds go directly to the team.
Dance-A-Thon (or any ‘-A-Thon’ that works for your team). Kids collect sponsors for every song danced to, basket made, mile walked, or home run hit…this allows for the team to have a wonderful time together while also pulling in funds for the team.
5K Your Way. Hosting a 5K race is an easy way to raise funds through runner registrations. Partner with a local printshop to make a raceday t-shirt, as part of the registration package, and work with your local City and Police department to create your 5K route. Team members and parents are able to help direct traffic and a few medals could be given for winners; men, women, and youth.
Youth sports fundraising doesn’t have to be boring or tiresome. Events like these not only help pay for team needs but also create a wonderful teambuilding environment. This season, step outside the box and choose to make more fun while making money for your team.
