Meetings Mean Business (MMB) announced today that Lanyon has become the first software company from the meetings, events and travel industry to join its board of directors. Founded in 2009, MMB brings together leaders from across the industry to demonstrate the substantial value derived from meetings, conferences, conventions, travel, trade shows and exhibitions.
According to Michael Dominguez, MMB co-chair and Chief Sales Officer at MGM International, Lanyon will work with coalition members, beginning this fall, to ensure that the full value of face-to-face meetings is well understood.
“As pressure remains to show value in meetings, events and face to face engagement, the need for software and the data it can provide to demonstrate the measurable returns becomes all the more important. The addition of Lanyon to our Board of Directors comes at just the right time,” said Dominguez, “MMB understands the critical role that software plays in the analysis of meetings, events, and travel. Working with more than 80 percent of the Fortune 100 - Lanyon is positioned to provide a unique perspective of how companies of all sizes can leverage software to save money and time, as well as demonstrate growth from their meetings, events and travel programs. This intelligence will assist MMB in its mission to define the value of meetings and events.”
The company joins the thirty-two current MMB board members, representing the greater travel industry, major hoteliers, professional associations, destination marketing organizations and more.
“Like MMB, we believe that when people meet face-to-face, great things happen, they make personal connections, drive positive outcomes and business gets done,” said David Bonnette, CEO of Lanyon. “We think there is tremendous opportunity for software to drive increased efficiencies and business intelligence, as our industry is going through a revolution much like ERP and CRM did over the past 20 years. Meetings, events and travel are being consolidated in order to make planners’ lives easier and provide transparency of spend and opportunities to save across an organization. We are thrilled to partner with other industry leaders to effect positive change and advocate for the meetings industry.”
