Two Midwest venues honored with the prestigious Venue Excellence Award

Awarded by the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM), the Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC), in Minnesota, and INTRUST Bank Arena, in Wichita, Kansas, were recently announced as a recipients of the 2018 Venue Excellence Award. Only five IAVM venues received this prestigious award which recognizes venues of any type that demonstrate excellence in the management and operation of public assembly venues.

Maite Kuhns, corporate trainer/recruiter at Parasole, accepts her Minneapolis Hospitality Hero Award at the Meet Minneapolis Annual Meeting on March 22 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Maite Kuhns, a corporate trainer/recruiter at Parasole restaurants, has been named the Hospitality Hero award winner for fourth quarter 2017 by Meet Minneapolis, Convention and Visitors Association. Given quarterly to a member of the Minneapolis hospitality community who has been nominated by their colleagues, the fourth quarter award was presented at the 2018 Meet Minneapolis Annual Meeting held at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The award honors an individual or company that has made valuable contributions to the image and culture of Minneapolis through outstanding hospitality and service.

The Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC) announced today that it is LEED® Certified for Existing Buildings: Operation & Maintenance (EBOM). The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the foremost program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.

“Sustainability is a priority at the Minneapolis Convention Center, and we are proud to be LEED Certified. It is our responsibility, not only as meetings and events leaders, but also as citizens of the world to think beyond the walls of our facility and how our actions impact the community at large,” said Jeff Johnson, executive director of the Minneapolis Convention Center. “Take for instance the mighty Mississippi River, which flows directly through downtown Minneapolis and serves as the backbone of our community.
