9 AM: Review and confirm plans for the See Des Moines Magazine release party. It’s a publication that we put out every fall and spring.
10 AM: Next up is planning for a social media event for our partners and community. I make some phone calls and send emails to confirm our set-up, a/v needs, and menu details.
12 PM: Lunch meeting with National Sales Manager and incoming group to find out how I can help build attendance through social media and other marketing initiatives. I take lots of notes so I can funnel the information to our marketing team to strategize and implement a plan.
1 PM: Phone call to a local venue to schedule an onsite walk through for an event that I am planning for Greg Edwards, President & CEO of Greater Des Moines Convention & Visitors Bureau.
2 PM: Review incoming resumes and make phone calls to schedule interviews with intern candidates.
3 PM: Working on coordinating mailings for our sales team. We do a quarterly mailing and right now I’m working on our fall mailing while at the same time gearing up for our holiday mailing which is the largest one of the year. I’m pulling lists, confirming contacts and addresses, as well as brainstorming on what type of packaging we’re going to do for the holiday mail piece.
4 PM: Back to making some phone calls and sending emails for one of my latest projects which is creating a partnership and establishing an open line of communication with airlines at the local airport. Between Delta, Frontier and Southwest, I’m setting up a protocol to let them know of all our upcoming major events along with attendance estimates in an effort to create more seats and better flight options to make things easier and more convenient for our visitors.
5 PM: Head to the Make-A-Wish Offices for a 25th Anniversary Committee Meeting.
6:30 PM: Drive home to make homemade pizza with my husband Stu and enjoy a post dinner movie The Vow via Netflix. We manage to get a few loads of laundry done during the movie and when I can’t keep my eyes open I finally call it a night.
