Unwinding poolside during any season of the year at a Midwest waterpark has become the rage over recent years for attendees of all types of events. Indoor and outdoor parks connected to hotel and conference centers offer meeting professionals unique and fun venues to entertain their guests when they’re not busy educating and brainstorming during working hours. These destinations are especially appealing due to the variety of properties that offer extensive and flexible meeting and event space, something often hard to find outside of traditional stand-alone convention centers.
Here’s a firsthand take on successful events at Midwest waterpark venues:
Robin Fanshaw, Office Manager/Event Planner with Midwest Food Processors Association, found her attendees “like having everything under one roof, especially in the winter when we hold our convention. They also liked the option of bringing their families. There was a lot to do for spouses and children. Parking was easy and free and the onsite restaurants and bars were accessible.” The most beneficial thing about holding the event at a waterpark is “I only had to plan one day of spouse tours. The other day people could vist the waterpark, the amusement park or the onsite spa.
Linda Hale, WI Credit Union League: “Our primary reason for choosing a Midwest waterpark was the flexibility of conference space, convenient location and great service. While we didn’t hold any events in the waterpark itself, we found that many of our attendees opted to stay over an extra night with their family. This also helped us accumulate room nights (and related complimentary nights per room pick-up). We also find that these type of facilities offer more convenient parking, with little or no parking expenses, and are overall generally less expensive for people. ”
MillerCoors planners found their attendees enjoyed the unique amenities offered and appreciated the family friendly atmosphere, “Everything went well; the staff, the food, the waterpark… all great! There was a lot of positive feedback from the attendees; they were all talking about telling others about the event and what a great time they had with their family. We hope to do this event again perhaps in February.”
Freyda Falik & Cici Topper, from Winterbreak Group, also find the Midwest location, among other things, to be a big hit for their group. “We found the hotel staff and the entire sales team to be extremely accommodating to our very specific and very unique needs, the safety and child friendliness are a top priority in the waterpark as well as the location which was conveniently located - about 1.5 hour drive from Chicago - so close yet you feel you are truly in the country!”
