Eagan conference center process on fast track

By the time the Minnesota Vikings take the field next training camp, construction on a 320-room hotel with about 18,000 square feet of conference space will likely be looming on the horizon.

Don Becker, executive vice president of real estate development with the Vikings group, said during an Eagan City Council meeting Tuesday that they plan to start digging before the ground freezes.

Quincy Hall is a rare mid-sized space in the Twin Cities, and can accommodate 1,000 seated guests and 2,500 people reception-style. The venue features soaring 40-foot vaulted ceilings and a breathtaking 8,000-square-foot outdoor patio.

An exciting month is underway at Rochester, Minnesota’s newly-expanded Mayo Civic Center, with the first post-expansion convention being held in the center’s brand-new event suites on April 6-7.

“After more than two years of construction, we are thrilled that our beautiful new venues are up and running,” said Donna Drews, executive director of the Mayo Civic Center. The expansion nearly doubled the facility’s capacity for hosting events, Drews noted.

“We’re excited for clients, conference attendees, event-goers, and community members to see our transformation and use our new ballroom, event suites, meeting rooms, and outdoor Riverfront Plaza.”

With 8,000 attendees and 8,515 room nights booked, this event is estimated to have an economic impact of $17 million.
