Quad Cities --- GreatRiverTrail.org is a new website targeting bicyclists, hikers, and other tourists that want to enjoy the Great River Trail. The Great River Trail in Illinois is a 62-½ mile stretch of hard surface bike trails that runs from the Illinois Quad Cities in Rock Island, Illinois, to Savanna, Illinois. The whole trail system measures 10 feet in width to allow bikers and walkers plenty of passing room. |
GreatRiverTrail.org was the brain-child of Dan McNeil, an avid cyclist wanting to promote the Quad Cities. He teamed with Devin Hansen, owner of BorderlessSEO.com, to develop this mobile-friendly website. Also partnering on the venture were organizations, including the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, Moline Centre, Trails for Illinois, and Black Hawk Waterways, as well as the trail towns of Moline, Port Byron, Hampton, Savanna, Thomson, Fulton and Albany.
GreatRiverTrail.org is aimed at tourists who are not only planning to visit the trail, but who are presently ON the trail. The website uses GPS to pinpoint the user’s location on an Interactive Trail Map, and then display nearby eateries, accommodations, events and entertainment within a 1-mile radius.
The website was designed to be Responsive, so it works on any mobile-device or smartphone, which makes it easy for bicyclists and other travelers.
All businesses that are near the trail, and are within communities that sponsored the site, are included on the website. Any businesses wishing to add their information to the site, at no charge, should contact Devin Hansen at Contact@BorderlessSEO.com.
