DES MOINES, IA – Today, more than 4,000 visitors will catch Greater Des Moines for the 65th annual National Square Dance Convention. The convention, generating an estimated $3.2 million in economic impact, runs through Saturday, June 25 at the Iowa Events Center. Attendees represent all 50 states, China, Japan, Philippines, Australia, Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden, France, Germany and Canada. “It has been more than 40 years since we’ve hosted this convention and we are excited to have it back in Greater Des Moines,” said Greg Edwards, President and CEO of the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau and Des Moines Area Sports Commission. “This provides us a great opportunity to showcase our dynamic city to visitors from around the world.” |
