Williston Parks and Recreation District installs first Mamava suite in NW North Dakota to support breastfeeding moms!
We have hundreds of moms coming through the doors on a weekly basis. It was a no-brainer to invest in a space to support them.
Shanahan adds, our goal is to provide a facility where patrons feel comfortable and welcome while promoting health in all areas… not just physical but social and emotional health as well. Adding the nursing pod adds value and comfort to all the amazing programs we already offer our families.
Created by Mamava, a company dedicated to transforming the culture of breastfeeding by making it easier for more women to achieve their breastfeeding goals, the Mamava suite is a self-contained, mobile pod with comfortable benches, a fold-down table, an electrical outlet for plugging in a breast pump, and a door that can be locked for privacy. The 4-foot by 8-foot pod is meant for individual use, but can fit more than one person, as well as mothers with babies and other children in tow.
“We’re thrilled to support breastfeeding mamas at the Williston ARC,” said Sascha Mayer, Co-founder and CEO of Mamava. “We believe that all mamas deserve a clean, comfortable, and dignified place to use a breast pump or breastfeed distraction-free—anywhere, anytime. Mamava pods provide flexibility for facilities and easy access for moms.”
The Mamava suite is located between the tennis courts and turf. It is available during open hours for women who wish a private and clean space to breastfeed.
The ARC will be hosting a “Moms Mixer” and ribbon cutting on Thursday February 6th from 11am to 1pm. All moms are welcome to come and see the suite and learn how to access it.
