This past fall, we asked the Midwest to share some of its most hidden gems with us in the first-ever Customized Meeting Experience Awards. Chambers and CVBs from all over the Midwest submitted one-of-a-kind adventures that were broken down into three different categories based on guest rooms available, which were then voted on by our readers. We had a great voting turnout, and after weeks of fluctuating front-runners we have finally found our winners!

Enjoy a custom, VIP behind the scenes presentation from the Pro Football Hall of Fame archives which highlights favorite teams and players of your choice. Then, meet and greet with a Hall of Famer while enjoying appetizers and drinks. Head into the event center for dinner, followed by a personal tour of the museum. Continue the evening in the luxury Club Lounge at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium or on the field for an interactive lesson in “The Game.” Conclude the night with dessert overlooking the campus atop the luxury Sky Terrace.

Let Youthful Hearts Race at Derby Downs

Akron, Ohio is home to Derby Downs, the final hill upon which All-American Soap Box Derby Championships’ racers, from around the globe, compete for the world title. So, how cool would it be for meeting and convention delegates to race “the hill” during their visit to Akron? Answer: It’s very cool and very doable. The Akron/Summit CVB has coordinated this once-in-a-lifetime experience for numerous groups convening in Greater Akron, OH, many of which have also secured the Swensons food truck to serve up their infamous burgers, salads, and sides! Oooh, to be a kid again... and you can on Derby Downs in Akron!

Approximately 90 people will sample the exhibits at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage and learn how Americans have united against hatred and discrimination to build a more tolerant, diverse culture. Then it’s workout time at one of Beachwood’s innovative exercise options: hard-rockin’/low-impact strength training at Corus45, an invigorating CycleBar ride, or the tranquil and wheelchair-accessible nature path at Beachwood’s City Park. After freshening up, attendees will dine on avant-garde variations of classic Italian recipes at Giovanni’s Ristorante, whose wine cellar boasts more than 550 selections and has earned the “Wine Spectator” Grand Award.
