CVBs Tell Us Their Favorite Group Tours
What is the best group tour or experience in your area and why?
Loren Petrakis-Mueller, Chicago Southland CVB
A favorite with our customers and sales staff is the “Tasty Treats of the Arts” tour. This tour gets you off the beaten path and into places the locals love. You will visit a farm to table establishment where all food is raised on site. After seeing hand-made glass being formed into award winning pieces you will have lunch at the one of
the most famous eats in the area for pulled pork and southern cooking. There is nothing better to shake things up, than a leg of a tour where you can imbibe in hand-made craft spirits. To keep the party going you will end up at a Winery and restaurant for dinner. The next day you will learn local culinary tricks and visit the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. This tour is fun refreshing and just what your soul needs to get to the heart of what it’s like to live in and around one of the greatest places in the US.
Jeff Berg, Springfield CVB
Historic tours are the most popular in Springfield, IL. From car clubs to associations, planners always appreciate our walkable downtown tours which include Lincoln's Home and Neighborhood, the Old State Capitol, and our historic architectural homes.
Kendra Schultz, Experience Lawrence
Visit Allen Fieldhouse and The DeBruce Center on the University of Kansas campus to learn about the place where the game of basketball grew up. The DeBruce Center houses James Naismith's Original Rules of "Basket Ball," and Allen Fieldhouse is continuously on lists for the best stadiums in the world.
Tony Ballard, Visit Manhattan
Manhattan is the "Gateway to the Flint Hills," as such we are home to the Flint Hills Discovery Center. Opened in April 2012, this 35,000 square foot facility immerses visitors within the wonder and beauty of the Flint Hills. Guests of all ages will enjoy exploring over 10,000 sq. ft. of interactive exhibits and exciting temporary exhibitions, as well as a one-of-a-kind theater experience and prairie-inspired outdoor plazas. This venue is available as a full-service museum during the day and available to rent for private events in the evenings.
Justin Gifford, Visit Lenawee We believe a show at Michigan's oldest operating live theater, The Croswell Opera House, and a wine trail have been greatly appreciated. Sarah Warmka, New Ulm Chamber & CVB A tour at Schell's Brewery is a must. Schell's is the oldest and largest brewery in MN. The peacocks, deer park, museum, and history all make it an appealing stop for everyone -- not just beer lovers! Schell's is the second oldest family-owned brewery in the US and is still operated by the same family who started it in 1860. Alexandra LeBlanc, Sioux Falls CVB "The Falls" of the Big Sioux River, is a three-tier falls where 7,400 gallons of water plummet over pink quartzite stone every second. In addition, Falls Park is a 123-acre green space and the focal point in the heart of the city. It serves as the backdrop for our historically restored and vibrant downtown bursting with recreation, shopping, and dining options. |
Debbie Robinson, Cambridge/Guernsey County VCB We have so many, but a unique opportunity is taking a pontoon boat ride at Seneca Lake then eating a meal overlooking the lake. Laurie C. Judson, Holmes County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau I think our flea markets offer outstanding variety and cleanliness for those who love shopping, with different vendors at each, making it a true mecca for finding local artisans. The factory tour at Homestead Furniture is also quite impressive, giving great insight to the business model as well as the creative process that makes this a well-known brand across the globe. Jim Mahon, Akron/Summit CVB It's hard to pick just one from an exciting array of experiences, but climbing aboard the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad - which runs through the heart of Ohio's only national park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park - will promise to create lasting memories for groups large and small. |
