Historic Walking Tour, Janesville, WI
Give your group the freedom to see sites at their own pace in Janesville. The Rock County Historical Society (RCHS) puts the power of a self-guided walking or driving tour in the palm of your hands with the Clio app. “We have over 80 historical sites on the app in a 5-mile-radius of downtown Janesville,” expressed Christine Rebout, Executive Director, Janesville Area CVB. Some of the historic buildings you can see include The Armory, built in 1930 by Lieutenant Colonel Henry C. Hengels, multiple murals, the Andrew Carnegie funded Janesville Public Library, and the Women’s Club Association, just to name a few.
Kendrick Forest Products, Edgewood, IA
Kendrick Forest Products is the largest and most efficient sawmill in Iowa, offering educational tours. “The tour walks participants through the sawmill operation from beginning to end, then offers the opportunity to walk through their cabinet shop where they build custom cabinetry,” said Caryssa O’Connell, Delaware County Tourism Director. “The reason why this tour is so popular is due to its comprehensiveness - [visitors] get to experience the full process.”

Wolf Park, Battle Ground, IN
Wolf Park is an education park which studies wolf behavior. “It is something you don’t see many places, with only a very small amount of similar facilities in the world,” expressed Ashley Gregory, Visit Lafayette - West Lafayette. In addition to informational and educational tours of the park to learn about the animals on the property, they also have a wonderful evening experience called “Howl Nights” where groups will get to see the wolves up close (behind a fence), learn a bit about wolves and why they act certain ways, and the differences between wild wolves and wolves in captivity. Participants will also learn how to howl and be able to hear the wolves return their calls.

Blue Blood Brewing Co., Lincoln, NE
Blue Blood Brewing Co. is not only a craft brewery in Lincoln, but one of the best group experiences in the area, according to Derek Feyerheim, Lincoln CVB. “While every city has craft beer these days, hardly any have a historic cave beneath it,” said Feyerheim. Robber’s Cave was created naturally but was expanded by man, to 5,000 sq. ft., and is filled with myths and lores. Groups can attend one of the regularly scheduled tours or do a private one, then return upstairs to try the variety of Blue Blood Brewing offerings.

Decades of Wheels, Baxter Springs, KS
Cruise down Route 66 in Kansas’ far southeast corner to Decades of Wheels. When completed this spring, the downtown Baxter Springs complex will include the Café on the Route restaurant (now open), a Route 66-themed arcade, dessert bar, bed and breakfast inn, and the main attraction, the Decades of Wheels museum of collectible cars and motorcycles, from the early 1900s to the latest. Self-guided tours allow your group to view the complex at their own pace, as well as enjoy the extra entertainment options.
