Autograph Collection’s Hotel LeVeque today announced an unprecedented partnership with Columbus fashion designer Liz Bourgeois. In keeping with the sophistication and high style of the hotel, which opens in December, Bourgeois has designed stunning uniforms for Hotel LeVeque staff members. Her one-of-a-kind designs offer effortless wardrobe transitions from day to night. Inspired by the celestial theme of the hotel, which is housed in the city's most iconic historic building, the uniforms feature Hotel LeVeque's signature midnight blue and subtle, starry accents. "As a lifestyle hotel that's part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, Hotel LeVeque is creating an unforgettable hospitality experience that truly reflects the beauty of its city," said Hotel LeVeque General Manager Geri Lombard. |
With a background in designing high-drama costuming for theater and film, Bourgeois and Hotel LeVeque are a match made in heaven. When designing the pieces, Bourgeois said she tried to reflect the elegance of the historic building, while still keeping the attire modern and fresh.
“It’s exciting to incorporate the Art Deco period into my designs for Hotel LeVeque,” Bourgeois said. “It was an incredibly theatrical period and the architecture of the LeVeque Tower is very romantic.”
The building’s rich history, which began in 1927, inspired the uniform’s tailoring, but the look is overall very modern and hip, according to Bourgeois. For example, women’s uniforms will feature a soft, flowing blouse and jacket, with a silhouette reminiscent of the 1920’s, over a denim skinny or trouser pant. Men’s uniforms repeat the tuxedo shape with a classic vest over a vintage-inspired dress shirt and skinny or relaxed jeans. Sewn locally by Columbus drapers and tailors, some pieces also feature a graceful bronze image of LeVeque Tower printed onto the fabric; yet another creation by Bourgeois. From the moment visitors set foot in the building, they'll see Hotel LeVeque as a showcase of the city's rich maker culture, with a number of local craft elements woven into the experiences the hotel creates for guests. Outfitting staff members in a local designer’s work pays homage to Columbus’ standing as world-class fashion center that's ranked No. 3 in North America for its designers, independent boutiques and overall fashion industry footprint. The city is headquarters to major fashion brands such as The Limited, Victoria's Secret, DSW, Eloquoi and others.
