Like the confluence of Milwaukee’s three rivers on Lake Michigan, the Wisconsin Center has the ultimate new meeting place for convention goers. Located just inside the center, CONFLUX offers the perfect space to regroup. “Our convention attendees spoke, we listened, and we designed CONFLUX accordingly,” said Marty Brooks, president and CEO of the Wisconsin Center District. “When sessions are on break or there is downtime before the next convention event, attendees need a space to catch up on work, have a quick meeting with colleagues, get optimal refreshments, return calls, or to just unwind with our TVs and video game screens. That’s what CONFLUX is here for.” |
The Smart Market also offers small packs of over-the-counter medicine, and just around the corner is a sink and microwaves for added convenience. Credit cards are accepted at the self-service machines, and frequent visitors can preload an account for future purchases.
“These simple conveniences are an extension of the great hospitality that Milwaukee is known for,” said Paul Upchurch, president and CEO of VISIT Milwaukee. “CONFLUX truly lives up to its name as a meeting place for visitors to refuel and refresh before heading to their next experience in our city.”
That refueling and refreshment comes from more than just the vending options at CONFLUX. The glass walls have been removed from the corner and the light now shines into an open space. Tables and chairs are in position for small group meetups as well as bar seating for individual downtime. Touch-screen wall monitors are available to learn more about Milwaukee and even check flight statuses.
The coffee tables in CONFLUX’s sitting area have inset big-screen displays that are pre-loaded with games like Candy Crush and Sudoku. Step further into the CONFLUX space and you’ll see another meeting area and a LEGO station to decompress – an idea from Brooks.
“I got into LEGOs as a way to pass time after knee surgery several years ago,” Brooks said. “It was an ideal way to let my mind recharge and refresh. This is exactly the experience we wish to offer our guests and was a must-have in CONFLUX.”
The Wisconsin Center District (WCD) is a government body created under Wisconsin State Statute in 1994 to fund, build and operate the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee as well as the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and Miller High Life Theatre.
