Upscale classics and creative small plates make a memorable group dining experience
IN the heart of north-central Kansas, Manhattan is well known for Kansas State University, Flint Hills, and now its booming culinary culture. Under the management of husband and wife team, Evan and Andrea Grier, multiple dining locations in the town are receiving recognition for their cuisine.
Harry’s, located in the Historic Wareham Hotel, opened in 1990 and has become one of the region’s premier dining destinations. Classic-contemporary fare focused on thoughtful upscale dining, craft cocktails, and an award-winning wine list paired with a warm atmosphere provide an unforgettable experience for meeting groups. Down the block, Bourbon & Baker recently celebrated its fifth year of offering guests creative, small plates and more than 75 American whiskies.
The teams of both establishments collaborate together with the goal of creating memorable dining experiences. The inspiration behind the food and hospitality are the teams’ families, educations, cultures, and culinary experiences which brought each member of the teams to Manhattan, KS. The foundation of the menus are comfort and soul with many different influences and the teams work diligently to make sure guests can relax and enjoy.
The Red Fox cocktail pays homage to Mr. Harry Wareham, the namesake of the restaurant. His nickname was the “Red Fox” because of his red hair and lifetime bachelor status. Amanda Caldas, Harry’s Dining Room Manager, created the cocktail, using Knob Creek rye whiskey, Ancho Reyes, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao, cream sherry, and Angostura Bitters.
Enjoy true Kansas flavor with Prime Rib and Cheddar Biscuits, at Bourbon & Baker. This dish is a collaboration between the culinary teams and Braveheart Beef, Kansas fed and processed beef. The dish was created by Cadell Bynum and Zach Filbert who do most of the creative work for Harry’s and Bourbon & Baker. Sliced Braveheart Beef prime rib, smoked white cheddar cheese, and bacon bits are served with fried potato crisps, peppered pork belly jus, and Red Rock cheddar cheese buttermilk biscuits made in their bakery.
Classy, contemporary, and comfort are all available to you at either of these dining establishments. Your group will love the cozy atmospheres for your next meeting in Manhattan.
