American Author James Thurber said, “One martini is all right. Two are too many, and three are not enough.” Enjoy a martini, or three, after a long day of meetings at Heidel House Resort & Spa’s Grey Rock lounge in Green Lake, WI. The lead bartender, Angel Kiggens, graciously welcomes all to sit back and enjoy a handcrafted cocktail, cold beer, or glass of wine from the Wine Spectator-awarded list. |
Savoir Faire Martini
A refreshing martini bursting with citrus and tart flavors, featuring St. Germain Liqueur, Ketel One Citroen®, fresh lemon juice, and blood orange juice.
Key Ingredients:
3 ounces Ketel One Citroen
½ ounce Blood Orange Juice
½ ounce St. Germain
1 ounce Simple Syrup
Splash Lemon Juice
Fill martini shaker with ice. Add vodka, blood orange juice, liqueur, syrup, and lemon juice. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist
The flavors of citrus, floral, and orange complement one another, while the St. Germaine, made from fresh, hand-picked elderflowers, helps balance the acidity of the blood orange.
“A lot of my motivation comes from the seasons,” said Kiggens. “Along with that, I enjoy keeping up-to-date with trends in the beverage industry by following various trade journals. Working closely with the chef also allows me to sometimes pair the cocktails with menu items.”
Heidel House Resort is tucked away on 20 wooded acres on the shores of Wisconsin’s deepest inland lake. Kiggens started her journey there working both back and front of the house. In 2000, she focused her talents at Grey Rock where she has been a server, hostess, and now the lead bartender. She is vital to developing Grey Rock’s innovative cocktail menus.
